On the road again...

Well, the deed is done -- we got my brother hitched on Saturday, and he & his new bride are on their honeymoon in Hawaii this week.

As expected, everything went swimmingly ... well, everything that didn't involve .... me. Not that I made a disaster of things, but I got all dry-mouthed toward the end of the scripture readings during the ceremony, and I had a time trying to get the rings off the spectra cord & 'biner contraption I had rigged up.

Oh, well. You've gotta have something memorable about a wedding, right?

I'm in SWVA for most of this week. My MIL had surgery on Monday, and she's doing fine. She's scheduled for discharge tomorrow.

I'm working on an on-line class and trying to get my butt off the couch for the summer. I put on several pounds during the spring semester (but if I had to trade exercise discipline for straight-A discipline, that's OK. The weight will come off with less effort than it would have taken to bring up my GPA...)

I'll probably be back at the farm by the end of the week. HODAR's planning to come up for the Memorial day weekend. A good time will certainly be had by all...

The results are in...

Pharmacology II = A

Maternity/Childbearing = A

Med/Surg/Health Deviations = A

Intro to Computers = A

Mental Health/Psych Nursing = A

Phew!

I'm taking 2 classes (both online) this summer. My Interpersonal Communications class started Monday. At least I had a week to catch my breath...

I'm back down South this week for my little brother's wedding on Saturday, then to VA for a week...

I thought things were supposed to slow down during the summer ... then again, I've been wrong before...

Home Run

The Geek With a .45 hits one out of the park with this post.

He really hit the nail on the head with this part:

Propaganda is often subtle. As I once mentioned to a left leaning associate, "Once you have a deep background in a topic, you can see how treatment by media guides the general perception of the thing. The press rarely outright lies, but in what they choose to focus attention on, or more importantly, choose to remain silent on, they have a great influence on the uninformed."

Man, if I had a nickel for every time I'd tried to articulate that... whether it's regarding communism, the role of firearms in our society, what to do about our sorry education system, or illegal immigration ... the media manages to skew the perception every time.

Thanks, Geek. For a minute there, I was afraid it was just me...

Light at the end of the tunnel

My last final of the semester - in Maternity/Childbearing - is in 2 hours.

I got a 97 on the Med/Surg/Health Deviations final, which was better than I thought I would do. I got a 91 on the Psych Nursing final, which may knock me down to a "B" in the class, though I'm not sure about that yet. That would be really frustrating -- Psych wasn't a hard class (the material really was "common sense") but the way the exam questions were phrased gave me fits.

Anyway, it's nearly done. Beer's chillin' in the fridge.

Exam update...

Whew! 2 classes are over. I got "A"s in both Intro to Computers and ... I can hardly believe it ...

Pharmacology.

Pharm had to be the most material I've ever had to go through for a single exam. Hands down. No doubt about it.

I hated having Pharm as the first comprehensive final this semester, but now that it's said and done, I'm glad to have it over with.

3 finals to go: Psych Nursing (today), Med/Surg tomorrow, then Maternity/Childbearing on Friday.
